Can a motard go on the freeway?

I'm looking at the Honda CRF230M, as a smallish commuter bike. I would get a bigger bike (the GSXR 750 is the favorite bike i've owned), but I love the looks and gas mileage of the CRF. Most of my commuting is in town, so the 230 is fine for that, i know. But I was wondering if it will do the freeway at all, just a short stint to the mall, for example. I haven't been able to find anything about this on the internet, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!
