How to deal with Annoying cosplayers?

So I've been dealing with these annoying cosplayers for a while. Don't get me wrong, I cosplayed myself but there's this group of cosplayers I know who are extremely snobbish. When I was in an anime convention I wore a kimono (since I don't have much money for wigs and contacts and money for the costume maker) and proceeded to have fun and meet new people but most of them just sort of rolled their eyes and ignored me. How can some people be so extremely rude and act like they are so elite? I thought it would be a great way to make new friends but apparently they didn't think wearing a kimono was "cool" to cosplay :/ isn't it strange how people who complained about snobs turn out to be snobbish as well?
