When you're writing a story, how do you indicate that you are changing from the present view to a flashback? ?

It depends on what style you're going for. You could begin sections with a date. You could blockquote the flashback. You could have a very obvious POV / tense change. You could obviously delineate sections (with asterisks, spaces, dashes, etc). Basically, anything that gets your point across.
